Capstone Secures C800S Repeat Purchase Order for Wyoming Natural Gas Operation

VAN NUYS, Calif., Feb. 19, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Capstone Turbine Corporation (www.capstoneturbine.com) (Nasdaq: CPST), the world’s leading clean technology manufacturer of microturbine energy systems, announced today that it has received a follow-up purchase order for a C800 Signature Series microturbine. The order was secured by Horizon Power Systems, Capstone’s distributor for the Western Mountain States of the United States and Western Canada.

The C800S marks the third purchase order in recent months that will support expanding efforts by this existing customer in Wyoming, the state which currently ranks among the top states in terms of available natural gas resources. Set to be commissioned during the upcoming summer, the dual-mode system will provide prime power for auxiliary equipment at an unmanned compression station utilizing existing gas within the station.

“As opportunities in the area continue to develop, both existing and new customers are turning towards Capstone’s systems to meet growing demand,” said Darren Jamison, President and Chief Executive Officer of Capstone. “This third follow-up order is a testament to the performance and proven benefit of the first two units already in operation,” added Mr. Jamison.

Compression stations play a critical part in the natural gas delivery process. As natural gas needs to get from the production well to the customer, these stations compress the gas to keep the supply moving against elements like distance, friction, and changes in elevation. Depending on key variables, compression stations can often be in remote areas.

“This particular customer required a solution that offered continuous power, minimal maintenance and downtime due to the inaccessibility of the compression station,” said Jim Crouse, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Capstone. “The single C800S unit will provide ample power for the large compression station in one ultra-low emission and highly reliable package,” added Mr. Crouse.
