After a Successful Caribbean Launch, JetBlue Schedules Year-Round Mint Service to Barbados

Customers Can Fly Mint Any Time of Year to Popular Caribbean Destination; Expansion Comes Following Impressive Customer Response

/EINPresswire.com/ -- NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - November 30, 2015) - JetBlue (NASDAQ: JBLU) today announced it is expanding its highly successful Mint service between New York and Barbados less than one month after launching the premium service to the Caribbean. Initially launched as seasonal service, the airline will now offer weekly flights year-round. The move comes following positive customer response to the flights which began operating on November 7, 2015.

JetBlue will operate roundtrip Mint service on Saturdays between John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados (BGI). As previously announced, flight will operate daily during the busy holiday travel season from December 19, 2015 and January 4, 2016. JetBlue flights are now on sale through September 6, 2016.

"We announced seasonal Mint service to the Caribbean earlier this year with the goal of providing travelers with a new and unique premium travel choice to two of our most popular leisure destinations," said Dave Clark, VP network planning at JetBlue. "The response from JetBlue customers has exceeded expectations on our Barbados route and we are thrilled to expand our Mint service to year-round for customers of this top destination."

With the addition of Mint flying during the summer season, JetBlue will now be providing three roundtrip frequencies between New York and Barbados on Saturdays during the 2016 peak summer period of June 18 through September 3.

"JetBlue's announcement that Mint service will be featured on the Barbados route year round and that we will now have three services on Saturdays during the peak periods is a true testament to the success of our partnership," said Petra Roach, U.S. director Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. "The demand for the extension is a validation that the premium product in Barbados is perfectly aligned with the expectations of the Mint customer. We are dedicated to further educating them on the premium destination that is Barbados."

JetBlue first launched Mint in 2014 on transcontinental routes and is now the only U.S. airline to operate regular service with lie-flat seating to Barbados and Aruba. In addition to lie-flat seating, customers can expect the same Mint experience they love on transcontinental routes, with an added twist: Mint's northbound menus from Aruba and Barbados feature new regionally inspired small plates such as ginger marinated shrimp, Caribbean chicken curry and pan seared flying fish curated by a local culinary team. Mint customers on these flights are also treated to a new welcome drink featuring rum and island flavors. Southbound flights offer the acclaimed Mint menu created by New York-based Saxon + Parole.

Mint offers a completely rethought design and a more human approach to service, addressing the needs of the modern traveler. Mint features exceptional hospitality from specially trained crewmembers and a thoughtful product offering.

Favorite Mint features include a specialty cocktail, a tapas-style menu by New York City restaurant Saxon + Parole, fresh coffee from the first purposely-built cappuccino machine for a U.S. airline, amenity kits by Birchbox, and dessert from Blue Marble and Mah-ze-Dahr Bakery.
