Slovenia T-bill issue oversubscribed, yields barely changed

LJUBLJANA, Sept 11 (Reuters) - Slovenia sold 70 million euros ($81 million) of treasury bills at an auction on Tuesday at yields that barely changed from the previous auctions, the finance ministry said in a report.

Total bids amounted to 395 million euros, but the ministry stuck to its earlier 70-million-euro target.

It sold 45 million euros of 12-month bills at a yield of -0.38 percent, unchanged from the previous auction in June. It also sold 10 million euros of 6-month bills at a yield of -0.38 percent versus -0.39 percent in June.

The yield for 3-month bills was -0.39 percent, unchanged from the last auction of such bills in May.

Analysts said the yields were likely to remain negative in the coming months, mainly due to the European Central Bank's quantitative easing programme.

The next T-bill auction is due on Oct. 9, when the ministry will issue 6-month, 12-month and 18-month bills.
