Every Child Central Oregon announces PacificSource as title sponsor for 2025 Foster Appreciation Event 

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – Every Child Central Oregon is proud to announce PacificSource as the title event sponsor for its annual Foster Appreciation Event, taking place in May during National Foster Care Month.

This highly anticipated celebration is the largest event of the year for ECCO, bringing together nearly 200 children and foster resource families from across Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties, including the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. 

The Foster Appreciation Event honors the incredible dedication of foster resource families who open their homes—and hearts—to children navigating the foster care system. Attendees of all ages will enjoy a vibrant afternoon filled with activities including live music, a petting zoo, bounce houses, a virtual reality experience, arts and crafts, a hand-prepared community meal, and more.

This event not only expresses gratitude to foster resource families but also builds connection and community among them — providing a rare opportunity for encouragement and unity in a role that can often feel isolating. 

“This event is about so much more than just fun—it’s about reminding foster resource families that they are seen, valued, and supported by their community,” said Melissa Lovemark, Executive Director of Every Child Central Oregon. “It’s a space where children can be celebrated, and families can feel uplifted. We’re deeply grateful to PacificSource for their investment in this event and their ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of children and families in our region.” 

Held during National Foster Care Month, the Foster Appreciation Event aligns with Oregon’s collective responsibility to care for the over 11,000 children in foster care statewide, over 400 of whom reside in Central Oregon. The event also offers a meaningful way for community members to get closer to the foster care community through hands-on volunteer opportunities. In past years, hundreds of volunteers have contributed to making the day a memorable one — helping with activity booths, serving food, welcoming families, and more. 

“This event is the highlight of my year,” said Shiann Schmidt, ECCO’s Foster Retention Coordinator. “Getting to celebrate our foster families and help create a day full of connection, laughter, and joy is incredibly meaningful. It’s a beautiful reminder of the strength and love within this community.”
