USC’s Nathan Franks wins ONEFlight Myrtle Beach Classic qualifier
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - A South Carolina native has punched his ticket to this year’s ONEFlight Myrtle Beach Classic after winning The Q at Myrtle Beach.
The event was pre-recorded earlier this year as a tournament-style video on YouTube and premiered on Monday.
South Carolina’s Nathan Franks topped the field and took home the win, shooting three under par, narrowly beating out other aspiring pros, Joe Hooks and Tyler Watts, by a single stroke.
“To play in a PGA Tour event in my home state is a dream come true,” said Franks. “The Q was a truly unique event with cameras following our every move and playing against guys with millions of followers on social media. It was a little surreal, but I was able to maintain focus and get across the finish line.”
Franks is ranked 82nd in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and won the Puerto Rico Classic and Schenkel Invitational in 2024.

The field for The Q included 16 players, half aspiring pros and the other half were content creators, in an 18-hole shootout to win a spot on the Grand Strand stop of the PGA Tour.
With the win, Franks will receive a sponsor exemption for the ONEFlight Myrtle Beach Classic, which will be held at Dunes Golf and Beach Club from May 8-11.
